#Austria: BT event to promote Romania as an investment destination

We started the year with a business event organized in Vienna on January 12, 2026, by Banca Transilvania Group, in partnership with the Romanian Embassy in Austria. Connecting Growth – Investing in Romania broughttogether over 80 representatives of the Romanian and Austrian business community, Romanian diplomacy, as well as Banca Transilvania and BT Capital Partners.

The dialogue focused on economic relations between Romania and Austria, as well as Romania's economic and investment prospects.

Austria is the second largest investor in Romania after Germany, with a strong presence in energy, banking, industry, infrastructure, and services, areas that are essential for the competitiveness of the Romanian economy. Austria is also consistently one of Romania's top 15 trading partners, ranking 11th in 2024, with a total volume of trade in goods of around €6 billion annually.

    The Romanian diaspora in Austria

    • Romanians are the second largest category of EU immigrants in Austria after Germans, numbering almost 150,000.
    • Every year, approximately 22,000 Romanians emigrate to Austria.
