For many Romanians, home is more than just an address. It means people, customs, the language they think in. Why shouldn't home also mean your bank? Your home bank.
We are launching a campaign for Romanians living abroad who remain connected to Romania and want to become customers of Banca Transilvania in a simple, fast, and 100% online manner.
To join the campaign:
- Open a BT account in lei through the BT Pay app by March 9, 2026.
- Use the BT card in euros, issued as part of the campaign, for purchases anywhere in the world, except Romania, both in physical stores and online. These must be made within three months of opening the account with our bank (until March 31, 2026).
- Visit the BT Diaspora website and fill out the registration form. If you are among the first 2,000 people to register and have opened an account with BT Pay, you will receive 5% cashback (up to €100) on the value of your purchases.
BT Pay, step by step:
- Download the app, create an account, and get a card
You can find the app on Google Play, the App Store, or the Huawei App Gallery. In just a few minutes, you can open a BT account directly from the app and instantly receive a debit card in lei (digital), ready to use. Because it is useful for you, but also to be part of the campaign, you need to issue a BT card in euros through the app as well—we have several options, which you can see here. - You can receive the physical card anywhere in the world
If you also need a physical card, request it in BT Pay, fill in the delivery address, and we will send you the physical card. Yes, the card will be sent to you anywhere in the world. This is, of course, the BT card in lei or euros, which is not only available in digital form. - You can also add cards from other countries
In BT Pay, you can enroll cards issued by other banks or fintechs from other countries. - Top up your card easily
You can transfer money to your BT account directly from the app, from any card enrolled in BT Pay, whether it was issued abroad or in Romania. - Most services are free of charge
Transfers in other currencies or in lei between people using BT Pay are commission-free, as are card payments – digital or physical – in Romania or abroad.
More than just an app: connecting with home
BT Pay helps you stay connected with your family and friends in Romania, send and receive money quickly, and manage everything directly on your phone—pay bills, check transactions, exchange currencies. You can manage everything remotely without depending on BT's schedule or time zone differences. In addition, you have a Romanian card that you can use anywhere in the world, but also at home when you return to the country.
BT Pay and the campaign we have launched are our way of staying close to Romanians everywhere and offering them the best possible experience in their relationship with BT.
Would you like to talk... at home? We're here 😊.
